Church Band Plays ‘Baby Jesus’ To The Tune Of ‘Baby Shark’ During Communion

Asking parishioners to turn to page 341 of their hymnals this past Sunday, lead cantor of St. Barbara Catholic Church asked everyone to “Please follow along as we sing ‘Baby Jesus’ to the tune of ‘Baby Shark,’” in keeping with the Christmas spirit.

“After some debate two weeks ago, we decided that, in keeping with the spirit of Christmas, we ought to sing ‘Baby Jesus’ as we have been doing during communion, but this time, to the tune of ‘Baby Shark,’” Cantor Ethel Robinson told EOTT, stating that it was her hope that the ninety-five percent of St. Barbara parishioners who struggle to keep focus during Mass will now be able to increase their attention span for at least the duration of the song.

“The Sign of Peace aside, communion is the most important part of the Mass. But people do not have trouble paying attention during the Sign of Peace. God’s grace abounds during this moment and gives each and every parishioner his strength to shake hands and to make quick jokes with their neighbor. But it’s during communion that, for some reason, people tend to lose focus. We pray that playing this catchy tune will help people to not only focus on praise, but to also not leave before Father has had a chance to mention the bake sale.”

Robinson said that in addition to Baby Shark, they will be playing “Here I Am, Lord” to the tune of “Daddy Finger” and “City of God” to the tune of “Let It Go.”
